You cannot include me
You cannot exclude me.
I am in.
I persist.

Lock yourself behind high gates
safe in your bed my laughter penetrates your dream.
Lock me up to occupy the cell I vacate.
I am legion.

Go on holiday and know that I am in your home;
Shitting in your en-suite shower,
wanking in your wardrobe.
While you take your leisure I am at work.

Your children turn to me,
Your gratification forever deferred
while mine is here now
He steals from you and I flow in his veins.
I flow in her
and when you look for your grandchild’s smile
I scowl out at you.

I will be with you always.
I persist.
